Hola Amigos!
March was beautiful. The air
temperature is averaging 90 F and
water temperatures have been
anywhere from 71-78 degrees with
cooler thermoclines. Visibility
averaged 15-30 ft.
I finally got to dive the wreck at
Los Meros! I followed one of our
instructor’s directions on how to
get there. When you get to the end
of the rock formation where all the
puffers hang out at 40ft you head
straight out till you get to 60ft
then hang a sharp left. Well I
thought we were heading out to no
where land and all of a sudden we
were there. We got there just as
this big grouper was leaving. Very
Cool! I went there again the other
day with Tomas a good friend of ours
from NY and his friend Karen, the
grouper were not there this time but
at the main rock formations we saw
many creatures including juvenile
high hats and a small pink clam that
stuck its foot out to flip itself
around to get to another location.
We had a lot of fun hovering and
watching the action. This has to be
one of my favorite dive sites; it is
so full of life and fun to explore.
We are still seeing the California
Butterfly ray at Virador and
Argentina Point; this is a very cool
looking ray. There have been bulls
eye rays everywhere (electric and
regular). Some of them are lumpy
looking, I believe they are
pregnant. We saw a couple of babies
that were only 3 inches in diameter,
very cute. We also saw a baby
octopus poking its little head out
to investigate us. Did you know an
octopus can squeeze through a hole
as small as its eye? Tracy and
Kimberly with two of our open water
students found a burgandy colored
frog fish at Tortuga on April fools
day plus two yellow seahorses (one
being pregnant).
We have to bid a happy farewell to
Eddy Davy. Eddy has worked with us
since September 2007. He is good
instructor and a lot of fun to work
with. We wish him much happiness in
his upcoming adventures. Kimberly
Shastid and Mike Rosati finished the
divemaster program at the end of
March, congrats to them! Several of
the staff had birthdays in March
including Eddy, Tracy and myself.
April has some birthdays coming up
for Kelley and Kike, Happy birthday
to them.
As always the best part of our job
is diving with the many friends we
meet above and below the sea. We
look forward to diving with you.
Hasta Pronto!
